UKRAINE-UDAR-KLITSCHKO-EPP
Kyiv, April 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The governing bodies of the European People’s Party (EPP) have considered an application from the UDAR Party led by Vitali Klitschko and started the process of granting the party observer status in the EPP, reads a letter sent by the EPP to UDAR.
“We are grateful to the EPP for this important step, which suggests that the political authority of our party is growing in Ukraine and among our European partners. It is a great honor and great responsibility for us. We hope that the experience and traditions of the EPP will help us in our political work, in implementing our plans for Ukraine’s rapprochement with the EU and introducing European values and standards in Ukraine,” the party’s press service quoted Klitschko as saying.
As reported, on March 27, the UDAR leader sent an official letter to EPP President Wilfried Martens reflecting the party’s desire to join the EPP.
The EPP said that on March 29, it considered and accepted the party’s application to obtain observer status in the EPP.
