UKRAINE-ELECTIONS-VIDEO-SURVEILLANCE
Kyiv, August 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will choose and sign an agreement with a contractor for the organization of video surveillance at the upcoming parliamentary elections, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Andriy Mahera has said.
“Actually, the government has the authority to tackle this issue, and the government will conclude an agreement with the contractor it selects,” Mahera told journalists in Kyiv on Monday.
He noted that under the legislation the government would not hold a tender to select the contractor.
Mahera added that the CEC approved on Monday a requirements specification for video surveillance and sent it to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The specification was approved in a rush because the relevant law was published on Saturday and took effect on Sunday, Mahera said.
He added that the Cabinet of Ministers would give final approval to the requirements specification.
