Kyiv, June 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv police are grateful to Swedish fans for the tolerance they showed after their team lost 2-1 in their opening Euro 2012 match against Ukraine.
“The police in Kyiv are grateful to the Swedish fans and persons accompanying them for their tolerant attitude. Everything went smoothly, without incidents,” the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s main office in Kyiv told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
The office said that the “evacuation” of Swedish fans from the Olympiysky National Sports Complex and the fan zone in Kyiv had been successfully completed.
At the same time, Ukrainian fans who had the opportunity to attend the match at the stadium and were in the fan zone were rejoicing over Ukraine’s victory, expressing their emotions, the office said.
An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the cheers of Ukrainian fans, the horns of cars and slogans glorifying Ukraine and the national team were heard in Kyiv.
