UKRAINE-EURO-2012-UEFA-REVENUES
Kyiv, June 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The level of UEFA’s revenues from the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine and Poland almost match the level of revenues obtained at the previous championship in Austria and Switzerland.
“Revenues are more or less at the level that there was in Switzerland or Austria, maybe even a little higher level, but expenditures were also larger,” Operations Director at UEFA Events SA Martin Kallen said at a press conference in Warsaw on Friday, according to the Ukraine 2012 Information Center.
He added that sponsors and television companies were satisfied with cooperation with UEFA during Euro 2012. While commenting on the impact of crisis on revenues from sponsors, Kallen said that the level of profit had already reached the level of revenues obtained at the European championships in 2004 and 2008.
As reported, UEFA expects EUR 1.3 billion in profits from Euro 2012. In general, UEFA points to the large increase in profits from the continental football championship, and today it can be stated that over the past twenty years the European Championship yield has increased by more than 30 times.
