UKRAINE-CEC-VIDEO-SURVEILLANCE
Kyiv, August 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved an agreement on the development of a video surveillance system for the parliamentary elections in Ukraine due on August 28, 2012 and instructed CEC Chairman Volodymyr Shapoval to sign it.
According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, 12 CEC members supported this decision and three members, including Zhanna Usenko-Chorna, Ihor Zhydenko, and Yulia Shvets, refrained from voting. The members that did not vote refused to explain their position.
The text of the agreement has not been published yet.
As reported, earlier the Central Election Commission estimated the introduction of the video surveillance system at the parliamentary elections by UAH 993.6 million.
The government of Ukraine selected SITRONICS Information Technologies, an international IT company founded on the basis of Quazar-Micro, for the creation of a video surveillance system and a system for counting votes at polling stations during the parliamentary elections in Ukraine. SITRONICS was one of contractors for the development of the video surveillance system at polling stations during the presidential election in Russia at the end of the previous year.
