Fair price of Russian gas for Ukraine some $200 per 1,000 cubic meters, says Ukrainian premier

Sanya (China), April 16 (Ukraine General News) – The optimal price of Russian gas for Ukraine is the price of $200 per thousand cubic meters, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said, the premier’s press service has reported.

“Now the price of gas for Poland is $320 per thousand cubic meters, and for Germany it is $330 thousand cubic meters. If we extract transport fees and some other expenses, the fair price of gas for Ukraine that equals to contracts signed with western partners will be around $200 per thousand cubic meters,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg news agency on Saturday, the press service said.

Azarov said that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin agreed to hold talks on the revision of a gas formula and Russian Vice Prime Minister Igor Sechin is to arrive to Ukraine on April 19 to start the talks.

“He said that there are positive steps made by Russia, in particular, agreements signed in Kharkiv in 2010. After a half-year talks, in February 2011 an agreement on supply of four billion cubic meters of gas at $170 per thousand cubic meters to the Ukrainian chemical industry was reached,” he said.

Azarov said that the agreement before the sowing campaign allowed producing fertilizers at the acceptable price.
