Kyiv, July 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Human Rights Commissioner Valeria Lutkovska has said that she constantly monitors the conditions of detention of former senior officials, including former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and former Acting Defense Minister Valeriy Ivaschenko, the ombudsperson’s press service has reported.
She announced this on Monday at a meeting with former European Parliament President Pat Cox, External Policies Adviser to the President of the European Parliament Arnoldas Pranckevicius and Director of the Max Planck Institute (Germany) Hans-Jorg Albrecht.
“The participants in the meeting also paid attention to the issue related to the provision of proper detention conditions for Yuriy Lutsenko and Valeriy Ivaschenko. Valeria Lutkovska informed the guests that she constantly monitors the conditions of detention of former high-ranking officials and noted that all complaints and statements that were submitted by prisoners or their representatives had been rapidly considered and positively resolved,” the press service of the human rights commissioner reported.
