UKRAINE-EP-ASSESSMENT
Brussels, October 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – MEP Michael Gahler (the Group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament) has said that the people of Ukraine were deprived of a fully democratic election process, however, he believes that it is necessary to support an active political agenda of the EU with Ukraine.
This is stipulated in a statement by Gahler, the text of which was obtained by Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels on Monday.
He recalled that the EPP Group had sent seven MEPs to observe the Ukrainian elections and that it supports the key findings of the ODIHR long-term mission.
Gahler also noted that the EPP Group was continuing its engagement in Ukraine “and is strongly in favor of continuing cooperation with its political partners and supports an active political agenda of the EU with Ukraine.”
