Moscow hopes Armenia will ratify FTA agreement soon

RUSSIA-ARMENIA-TRADE-CIS

Yerevan, July 24 (Interfax) – Russian Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has said that hopefully, the National Assembly of Armenia will ratify a free trade area (FTA) agreement in the first days of its work.

“We note with satisfaction that the Armenian authorities have prepared all the documents related to the already signed CIS free trade area agreement,” Naryshkin said at a briefing in Yerevan on Tuesday, summing up the results of his two-day official visit to Armenia.

The Russian and Belarusian parliaments have already ratified this agreement, the speaker said.

“We hope Armenia will be the third country [to ratify the agreement] very soon, and the agreement will thus take effect,” Naryshkin said.
