UKRAINE-OPPOSITION-YANUKOVYCH-MEETING
Kyiv, March 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian opposition parties the Front for Change and Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union have insisted on meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
“We demand that the president should immediately announce the time and place of a public and open meeting with the opposition,” the parties said in a letter published on Friday.
According to the letter, ten days ago the opposition lawmakers requested a public meeting with the Ukrainian president to discuss a critical situation in the country and the ways out of it.
“However, neither the opposition nor the Ukrainian people have heard anything apart from Viktor Yanukovych’s statement in one of his interviews about his desire to meet and [hear] the sentiments in the parliament,” the letter reads.
“The opposition is addressing President Yanukovych with this demand again. It’s time to stop hiding behind broad and meaningless interviews and press service reports. It’s time to answer the questions that concern the whole of Ukraine,” the opposition parties said.
