Prosecutor’s office opens criminal case against Ivano-Frankivsk City Council deputy over road accident

Ivano-Frankivsk, August 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The prosecutor’s office of Ivano-Frankivsk region on Friday opened a criminal case against an Ivano-Frankivsk City Council deputy over a road accident, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office has reported.

Although the deputy who is to blame for the accident fled the scene, law enforcement officers managed to detain him within a few hours.

A criminal case was opened under Part 2, Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic rules). A pre-trial investigation has been launched.

As reported, a deputy of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council caused a road accident on the Stry-Chernivtsi highway at about 1800 on Thursday and fled the scene. Five people were injured in the accident. All of the victims were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
