Rally in support of Pussy Riot held in Kyiv – media

Kyiv, August 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A rally in support of the convicted members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot was held in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kyiv on Friday, the Ukrayinska Pravda online publication reported.

According to the report, a few dozen protesters wearing colored balaclavas and holding banners with slogans in support of the young women rallied outside the embassy. They chanted “Freedom to Pussy Riot!”, “No Pussy for Putin” and sang the prayer “Our Lady, drive Putin away”, which Pussy Riot members performed at the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow.

On Friday the three members of Pussy Riot group were sentenced to two years of imprisonment each.
