Kyiv, September 15 (Ukraine General News) – A Ukrainian tank driver drowned as his tank sank during “an exercise in surmounting a water obstacle,” Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General said on Thursday.

The accident occurred at a military training site in the Rivne region.

The other two members of the crew managed to climb out of the sunken vehicle and survived. The driver was recovered from the tank and taken to a hospital, where he died.

The Rivne garrison prosecution service launched an investigation, expressing suspicion of a “departure from rules on the driving of a vehicle or on its maintenance.”
