Samara, August 21 (Interfax) – Two men in Samara, Igor Titarenko and Stanislav Zhuravlyov, were fined 10,000 rubles on Tuesday for taking part in the August 17 march with balloons in support of Pussy Riot.

“Our cases were heard by the judicial district No. 31 of the Samara regional court. Each of us was fined 10,000 rubles for ‘participation in an unsanctioned public event’,” Titarenko told Interfax.

A similar fate is awaiting others who were arrested during the demonstration in support of the punk band, he said.

Around 50 people marched with multi-colored balloons through the pedestrian Leningradskaya street in Samara on Friday afternoon. At the end of the street, activists let the balloons go into the air to symbolize the release of the punk prayer performers. Nine people were arrested after the demonstration.
