Ukraine’s space industry 88% financed from budget in 2011, says space agency

Kyiv, March 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The actual state financing of Ukraine’s space industry in 2011 stood at 87.9% of the approved budget, reads a report by the State Space Agency of Ukraine on the use of budget funds last year, which was published on Friday.

In keeping with the report, only UAH 448.92 million out of the UAH 510.91 million foreseen by the national budget for the industry was provided in financing last year.

The actual financing of Ukraine’s national targeted research and engineering space program was 84.6% of that planned, a program for the disposal of solid rocket fuel from RS-22 intercontinental ballistic missiles was 68.1% financed, and a program for reform and development of Pivdenne Design Bureau and Pivdenmash Production Amalgamation (both located in Dnipropetrovsk) was 57.8% funded.

The 2012 budget foresees the financing of Ukraine’s space industry at UAH 838.12 million.
