Ukrainian, Russian president oversee simplification of procedure for crossing mutual border, says Yanukovych

UKRAINE-PRESIDENT-STATEMENT

Kyiv, July 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Vladimir Putin are overseeing the simplification of the procedure for crossing the border between the two states in order to create the most convenient conditions for theirs citizens, Yanukovych said in a press statement after a meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission.

“Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] and I were pleased to note the positive results of joint actions to simplify the crossing of the Russian-Ukrainian border by citizens of our countries,” the president’s press service quoted him as saying.

According to the Ukrainian president, this issue has been under the personal oversight of the two presidents for several years. During the meeting of the Interstate Commission, they agreed to step up cooperation in this area in order to create the most convenient conditions for the citizens of Ukraine and Russia, Yanukovych said.
